If you want to understand Rajasthan rather than just sample it, this is the trip. Ten days takes you through the state’s four great cities, each with its own colour and character — the pink of Jaipur, the blue of Jodhpur, the gold of Jaisalmer, and the white palaces of Udaipur reflected in its lakes.
It’s the itinerary we’re asked for most by couples and by travellers who’ve done the Golden Triangle before and want to go deeper.
The journey
Begin in Jaipur for the forts and palaces of the Pink City. Then west to Jodhpur, where the mighty Mehrangarh Fort towers over a sea of blue-painted houses — one of the most dramatic urban views in India.
On to Jaisalmer, the golden city rising straight out of the Thar Desert, with its living fort and ornately carved merchant havelis. Here we build in a night at a desert camp in the Sam dunes — a camel ride to a dune-top sunset, folk music under the stars, and the kind of silence you don’t get in a city.
Finally Udaipur, the most romantic city in Rajasthan — the Lake Palace floating on Lake Pichola, the sprawling City Palace, and a sunset boat ride to close the trip.
What’s included: private air-conditioned car with driver for the whole loop, hotels with breakfast, one night in a desert camp, and all inter-city driving. We can add guides in each city, monument entry, and the Udaipur boat ride.
A note on hotels: this route has some of India’s finest heritage hotels — converted forts and palaces where you sleep inside the history. We can build the trip at mid-range or step it up to heritage properties; tell us your budget and we’ll quote accordingly.

Is 10 days enough for Rajasthan?
Ten days comfortably covers the four main cities — Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur — with a desert night included. It's the sweet spot between seeing enough and not spending every day in the car. Shorter trips mean dropping a city.
Is the desert camp night worth it?
For most people, yes — it's a highlight. A camel ride to a dune sunset, folk music and dinner under the stars, and desert silence. We can also arrange a more comfortable luxury camp if you'd prefer.
How much driving is involved?
The longest legs are Jodhpur to Jaisalmer and Jaisalmer to Udaipur, each a half-day drive. We break them with stops and start early to keep afternoons free.
The roads are good. Can this trip be customised?
Yes, entirely. Add Pushkar, Ranthambore or Mount Abu, extend nights in a city you love, or upgrade the hotels. Tell us what matters to you and we'll reshape the route.
